TAX RELIEF SCHEME
The time of year has arrived again when we ask you to help the parish to recover the tax paid on your donations to the parish during 2013. This is known as the Tax Relief Scheme for Eligible Charities.
The Revenue Commissioners introduced some changes to the scheme which came into effect for the 2013 tax year, as follows:
We can now avail of the scheme for all taxpayers, both those who are PAYE and those who are self-assessed who make yearly contributions adding up to €250 or more.
Your individual tax rate no longer applies to this scheme as Revenue apply a rate of 31% for all claims made under the scheme.
This week we will be sending forms to those who contribute to the parish collections using the envelopes and we would ask you to sign and return the form to the parish office.
If you do not use the envelopes and have contributed an amount in excess of €250 during the year to parish collections, we would invite you to collect a form from the parish office or from the sacristy at St. Mary’s or Queen of Peace.
The Tax Relief Scheme has provided significant funding for the parish since it was introduced and it is now an important source of revenue.
Finally, we take this opportunity to express our thanks to you for your generosity to the parish through the weekly Offertory Collection for the Parish and Diocese and the 6 Dues Collections for the clergy during the past year.
