Road Safety Authority Interactive Shuttle Visits Athlone on Wednesday 18th February.
The Shuttle will be based in the Athlone Regional Sports Centre car park from 10am to 4.30pm. All members of the public are invited to visit and experience the interactive shuttle.
The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is tasked with improving safety on our roads in order to reduce death and injury resulting from road collisions. An objective of the RSA is to bring Ireland's road safety record into line with "best practice" countries throughout the world.
The ‘Road Safety Interactive Shuttle’- plays an integral role in increasing and developing road safety awareness at local and national level.
The RSA Shuttle provides the general public with an opportunity to engage with the various road safety campaigns and RSA staff.
The RSA Staff provide advice and assistance with specific queries and increase the level of awareness of good road safety practices.

Roll-over Simulator
The roll-over simulator is very effective when trying to encourage people to use safety belts.
This is a car fitted to a hydraulic platform which can simulate a 360 degree roll-over which demonstrates how it would feel if you were a driver or passenger involved in a less than desirable incident.
The RSA Staff will show you the effects of being suspended by your seat belt. After this demonstration, people will never travel in a car without a seat belt on! We will also do demonstrations using real size dummies which will also show where you can end up when you are not using your seatbelt.
