The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice’ (Jn. 10:27).
How much time and effort do we give to listen to the voice of God in our lives?

Much of our relationship with God, as in any relationship, depends on our hearing the other, on our actually listening. God does speak to each of us personally. God wants only the best for us, in our relationships and in our work. So God tries mightily to guide us in our plans and our decisions. God invites each of us to ‘follow me’, to become a true disciple by helping others.

Yet, as often as God speaks to us, being able to hear God’s message depends on whether we are tuned in to receive it. If we are too busy, too distracted, too caught up in the wrong things, we will not be able to hear what God is saying. Only when we find ways and times to quiet ourselves can we allow God’s voice to reach us.

Listening for and hearing God’s voice then responding to it faithfully can result in great peace and comfort: ‘I give them eternal life and they will never be lost’.
